Obituary of Mary Prada-Paterack
Peacefully surrounded by her family at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Monday December 2, 2024, Mary Prada-Paterack, age 94, passed away. Beloved wife of the late Edward Prada (1988) and Stanley Paterack (2000). Born in Chatham in 1930, daughter of the late Antonia (Capek) and John Ivan.
Loving mother of Sandra (Don) VanRoboys, Nancy (Wayne) Walters, Diana (Scott) Goldsmith, Debbie (Ed) Shea and Lisa (John) Udvari. Cherished grandmother of 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Dear sister of Jerry (Lauretta) Ivan and the late Charlie (Jean) Ivan. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.
Mary worked various jobs before she joined Canadian Fram where she worked until retiring in 1987, going on to open her own business, Prada’s Hair Salon and Boutique. She had a breadth of interests, including curling and golf, playing well into her 80s and was the top of her golf league for years. She loved to cook and was an avid reader. She even mastered the challenges of the current world of electronics! Mary maintained a full social life into her nineties, picking up her friends so that their lunches could continue. Mary was well loved and will be deeply missed by those who had the fortune of knowing her.
Friends and relatives may visit Our Lady of Victory Church on Monday, December 9, 2024, from 10 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 AM.
The burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
