of Grande Pointe-Made his exit from this world surrounded by his loved ones at his home on Rivard Line on Tuesday September 2, 2014 at the remarkable age of 99.
He made his grand entrance on March 26, 1915 to Viola (Myers) and Ovila Tetrault on Rivard Line, Dover Township. On April 19, 1934 he married the love of his life Hermine Lozon, daughter of Wilhelmina (Griffore) and Julius Lozon. They celebrated their 75th anniversary in 2009 and on July 23rd, just five days short of her 94th birthday,
Hermine joined their daughter Yvonne in Heaven who passed away in 1961 leaving behind her two and a half month old son, Terry. Alfred and Hermine raised him and he became their son.
Beloved father of Yvette and her husband Stan Stawarz, Terry and common-law wife Catherine Long, Seville (Madeleine). Cherished by granddaughter Nicole Stawarz, grandson Paul Stawarz, common-law wife Frances Reaume, great-granddaughter Larissa, grandson Steve Stawarz, wife Janna, great-grandson Jake, grandson Gabe Tetrault, wife Lisa and great-grandchildren Levi, Sarah, Noah, and Anna, grandson Mike Tetrault, wife Jodi, great-grandchildren Joelle and Jonah, granddaughter Anne-Marie and husband Luc Pinsonneault and great-grandsons Adrien and Justin, great-granddaughters Jennifer and Ashley Tetrault and great-great grandson Enrico. He is the last of his siblings to leave the stage having been predeceased by Euclid (Helen), Eddie (Celeste), Delina (Wilfred) Demers, Arvilla (Dan) Lucier, Clara (Harvey Provost)(Omer Charron), Evelyn (Reginald) Charron.
Alfred farmed most of his life on the family homestead on Rivard Line. At the age of 77, he retired from farming so that he could have more time for fishing and gardening. Hermine and Alfred loved to go fishing on Lake St. Clair and caught many a perch and pickerel in those 30 some years. They kept busy with their abundant garden and shared their produce and fish with family and friends. They loved to play Euchre and Pepper with family and friends and joined the Golden Age Club when they became seniors. They played Euchre there and made many friends. Remarkably, at the age of 80 he still climbed on his roof to patch up any windows or roofing that needed fixing. His real passion was playing the fiddle. He started fiddling at eleven years old and played and step-danced at many house parties, weddings, and anniversaries. He was inducted into the Music Hall of Fame in Grande Pointe in 2008 for his many years of fiddling. Alfred loved life and loved people. He was the most generous, caring man and had a great sense of humor. He was witty and a remarkable story teller who amazed everyone with his uncanny memory for names and dates and singing unique songs from the past. He touched many lives in a very special way.
His body grew old but not his mind and spirit. He kept up with current events and was sharp as a pin until his weary and creaky body gave out in the end. Alfred earned his wings many times over and can now soar with no pain and suffering. God had reunited him with Hermine and Yvonne.
Many thanks to Dr. Kate Bailey, Bayshore and CCAC for their special care and compassion. Special aknowledgments to Cheryl Sommers and Monica Seawright of CCAC, Krystal Duquette, Amber Hillier, Wayne Martin and PSW-Crystal of Bayshore. Deep gratitude to Diane and Dave Tetrault. They were the best neighbors that he could ever have.
