Peacefully, at London Health Science Centre University Campus, London, on Monday, June 20, 2016, John “Lynn” Martin, age 78, of Chatham, beloved husband of Sandra Martin. Born in Chatham, son of the late Grace and Jack Martin.
He is survived by his children, Chris (Jennifer) Martin and Beth Martin (Ian Wombwell) all of London, his grand daughter Rachel Martin. Special uncle to Peter, Andrew and Marie and grandpa to Fisher and Nolan Clark. Also survived by his brothers Gerald (Vivian) Martin of Chatham and Dennis Martin of Erieau, his sister in law Donna Martin and brother in law Bob Wild and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his brothers Art and Terry Martin, sisters in law Carol Martin and Phyllis Wild.
Lynn was an active participant in the Dresden Minor and Junior Hockey Association for 50 Years. He was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2005 and presented with the lifetime achievement award for the Dresden Jr. Kings in 2013. Lynn was retired from Nestle Canada after 30 years and farmed part time in Chatham Township. He also volunteered for the Kidney Foundation and Outreach for Hunger.
As were his wishes Lynn has been cremated. Memorial visiting will be held at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) from 7 – 9 pm on Thursday, June 23, 2016 and 2 – 4 pm and 7 – 9 pm on Friday, June 24, 2016. A Memorial Service will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11 am with Rev. Linda McFadden officiating.
