Obituary of Mercedes Dionne

DIONNE, SISTER MERCEDES (formerly Sister Mary Benedicta) entered Eternal Life on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Villa Angela in Chatham, Ontario in her 77th year of Religious Life.
Sister Mercedes was an accomplished musician and served the Ursuline Community as a music teacher at “The Pines”, Parkhill, St. Ignace, Michigan, Woodslee, and Windsor. She retired at “The Pines” in 1986 when the music school closed. Her last move was in 2006, to Villa Angela where she enjoyed community life and times with relatives and friends.
She was born in Marquette, Michigan in 1918, the daughter of the late Antoine and Aldia (Chartier) Dionne. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by brothers, Leonard, Edmund, Francis, Henry, Joseph, and George, and sisters Margaret Dushane, Alyce Taylor, Bernadette Markosky, and Leona Kurian.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the Ursuline Community at a prayer service to be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the Kiva at Villa Angela, 20 Merici Way, Chatham.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Kiva, at Villa Angela, Chatham.
Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Sister Mercedes may be made to “Chatham Ursuline Charities” or to the charity of your choice.
The Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home 156 William St. S. Chatham is in charge of arrangements.
