Obituary of Leonard VanRaemdonck

Peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Chatham Campus, on Wednesday March 16, 2016, Leonard VanRaemdonck, age 92, of Chatham, beloved husband of Irene (Dutry) VanRaemdonck. Born in Melsele, Belgium in 1923, son of the late Justine (VanHal) and Frank VanRaemdonck. Len will be sadly missed by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister Marie Fasseel. Also predeceased by a sister-in-law Madeline Dutry and brothers-in-law Maurice and Cyril Dutry. Len was a member of the former Branch #28 Legion, served in the Army from November 1942-February 1946. He was past president of the Kent Belgian Dutch Canadian Club and life member and past president of the Chatham Ad and sales Club, also a member of the Chatham Power Squadron. He loved boating with his wife, was sales manager of Labombards Chatham Limited for 32 years. He formed and operated Central Equipment, a division of Ramdon Corporation and served as councilor for Raleigh Township for 4 years. Friends and relatives may visit at the Funeral Home, 156 William St. S. Chatham (519-352-5120) on Friday March 18, 2016 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm, where Vigil Prayers will be offered at 3 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday March 19, 2016 at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph’s Church. Entombment will be in Maple Leaf Mausoleum. Donations to the Salvation Army, St. Joseph’s Church Building Fund or the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance would be appreciated.
