Obituary of Emma Luisa Matteis

It is with deep sorrow and much love we announce the passing of Emma Luisa Matteis (Prizio) on the 18^th day of January 2021 at the age of 86 years.

She will be remembered by her husband of 60 years, Genesio Matteis.

Loving mother of Maria Mariconda and partner Darren Lopes. Sadly missed by grandchildren Kristina Mariconda and Zachary Mariconda. Dear sister of Ersilia Colucci and Giovannia Prizio and by sisters-in-law Domenica DeMattia and Concetta Prizio and by numerous other family members.

Emma was predeceased by her parents Antonio and Ermalinda Prizio and her sibling Giuseppe Prizio.

Emma a will be always fondly remembered for her selflessness and devotion to her family and Catholic faith. Her caring and nurturing were passed down in assisting to raise her grandchildren. Emma had a passion for gardening with her husband and cooking the fruits of their labour. Emma will always be remembered as the lady who kept Parkwood Drive meticulously clean.

The family would like to thank her nurse Aileen Estrella and the Chatham-Kent Hospice for their exceptional care.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, private family visitation took place at the funeral home with interment in Maple Leaf Mausoleum.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.  

Donations to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated by the family. The Hinnegan-Peseski Funeral Home 156 William St. S. Chatham is in charge of arrangements.
